About the conference

Building on the success of previous ISMEC meetings, the 2017 edition will be the 44^th congress of a series of conferences that begun in 1974 as the annual congress of the Italian group of “Thermodynamics of complexes”.

More than a decade later, with the addition of Spanish participants, it became the "Italian-Spanish Congress on Thermodynamics of Metal Complexes" (ISMEC), with annual meetings alternating between Italy and Spain. While attracting more and more participants from all over the world over the years, the official language switched to English.

To stress the international character of the conference and the widening of the scopes of the discussed topics to new cutting edge areas, the denomination of ISMEC changed again in 2010. Since then, the “International Symposium on Metal Complexes” was successively hold in Taormina (2011), Lisbon (2012), Burgos (2013), Pavia (2014), Wroclaw (2015), and Barcelona (2016).

In June 2017, France will host for the first time an ISMEC conference in the historical city of Dijon, a landmark for medieval, renaissance and classical architecture, but also for gastronomy, fine wines, and the so-called "French art de vivre".

Located between Paris and Lyon, the capital of Burgundy is a modern city of 150,000 inhabitants, with excellent railway and highway connections to all major European cities.

The congress venue will be at the building "Sciences Mirande" of the Université de Bourgogne, a multidisciplinary university counting 27,000 students enrolled in ca. 400 academic programs and 36 research units. The Dijon campus spreads out over 120 ha in a very green environment and is settled 20 min away from the city center and 25 min from the main railway station with direct tramway connection (Line T1, direction Quetigny).
