They have free maps of the downtown area, including a map and guide for the self-guided walking tour of Dijon. The walking tour uses a small brass pavement marker with an owl design to note the path along the sidewalks of Dijon. Larger numbered owl markers correspond to different stops on the tour, and the guide pamphlet will have descriptions of the art, history and architecture of that stop.

Typical local-specialties are of course the world-famous Dijon Mustard that appeared in the 14^th century, at the time of the Dukes of Burgundy. Nowadays, the denomination guarantees its manufacturing process that consists mainly in crushing mustard seeds, wild mustard seeds, and mixing it in verjuice, a mixture of vinegar, water and salt.

Both red and white wines are the other treasure of Burgundy, most of them being produced on the Côte d'Or vineyards extending over a total of 9,445 hectares. The most prestigious appellations are located on the eastern-side of the coast stretching south from Dijon to Beaune and Macon. For 2,000 years, men have cultivated vines, guided by a desire to link ever more precisely the wine with the place where it is produced, identifying it by its origin rather than by the grape variety (red wines are exclusively made from Pinot Noir, white wines from either Chardonnay or Aligoté). This has given rise to an exceptional mosaic of over 1,000 well-identified land parcels called "Climats", making Burgundy the very model of terroir-based viticulture. Since July 2015, the "Climats de Bourgogne", vineyards of Burgundy, belong to the World Heritage list by UNESCO.

The most convenient way to travel around the city is by tramways or buses serviced by Divia. Tramways operate every 5 to 7 minutes, from 7:00 to 19:00, with 2 lines (and every quarter hour up to midnight). From Dijon train station to the conference venue, take line T1 in front of the Dijon Ville Station (direction Quetigny) and exit at the Université stop. Tickets can be bought at automatic machines at each station (by credit card or cash) and can be used on buses also. Do not throw away your ticket, this is a magnetic card that can be reloaded (a 0.30 € fee is charged when purchased)! The same card can be used for several peoples travelling together.
